Sensory ataxia is commonly found in the following circumstances:

  • peripheral neuropathy
  • spinal cord disease - especially interfering with posterior column function - for example:
    • cervical myelopathy due to cervical spondylosis
    • multiple sclerosis
    • subacute combined degeneration of the spinal cord
    • tabes dorsalis
