Authoring team

This is a syndrome in which trivial trauma to a peripheral nerve e.g. sleeping on a limb results in a mononeuropathy which may take weeks to resolve.

The ulnar and peroneal nerves are most commonly affected.

Presentation is during the second or third decades. Older patients may develop generalised weakness with little sensory involvement.
