Various drugs may cause a drug induced subacute proximal myopathy including:

  • diamorphine
  • alcohol
  • clofibrate
  • choloroquine
  • quinine
  • lithium
  • emetine
  • corticosteroids
  • all drugs causing hypokalaemia, e.g. diuretics
