Lhermitte's symptom is that of an electrical sensation in the spine or limbs on neck flexion.

It is often a symptom of a demyelinating condition such as multiple sclerosis.

Rarely, it is also seen in:

• myelopathy from cervical spondylosis
• vitamin B12 deficiency
• following a whiplash injury
