ureterosigmoidostomy

Ureterosigmoidostomy is a widely used form of urinary diversion in parts of the world where adhesive appliances are unavailable, or are not practical because of tropical heat. The ureters are implanted into the sigmoid colon. A major complication is reflux of faeces from the sigmoid back up into the kidney.
