Macroamylasameia is a benign condition in which either form of amylase is bound to immunoglobins of class IgG or IgA. It affects only 1-2% of the population.

The bound amylase cannot be cleared by the kidney. Plasma amylase activity is very high, urinary amylase activity is absent or low.
