This condition is distinct from orf and cow pox. The virus closely resembles the orf virus. Infection in humans occurs from milking infected cows.

This condition presents with papular lesions on the fingers and hands that increase slowly in size over a period of 1-2 weeks. The nodules are painless and bluish-red in colour. The lesions heal without scarring. There is usually no fever.

Occasionally there may be a severe allergic rash on the face and neck.
