A galactocoele is a cystic lesion of the breast which occurs after the cessation of lactation. It is due to obstruction of a lactiferous duct which becomes distended with milk and epithelial cells.

Patients usually present with a subareolar mass and milky nipple discharge. Secondary infection may produce foci of acute mastitis or abscess formation.

Treatment is by excision.
