Loiasis

 
   

Loiasis is caused by the nematode Loa loa which belongs to the family Filarioidea.

The disease is transmitted by deerfly; Chrysops silacea and Chrysops dimidiata, and is thus confined to the hot, humid swamp areas of West and Central Africa.
