Diastasis rectus is the most common congenital abnormality of the abdominal wall. It consists of an upper midline protrusion of the abdominal wall between the right and left rectus abdominis muscles. It results from weakness in the linea alba.

Treatment is rarely necessary except in association with an epigastric hernia.
