This describes a generalised redness of the skin affecting more than 90% of the body surface area.

Causes of erythroderma include:

  • psoriasis
  • eczema
  • urticaria

Complications include:

  • high output cardiac failure.
  • hypoalbuminaemia - protein loss from gut and skin.
  • impaired thermoregulation.
  • skin infection
